Notts County's Jess Clarke scored twice before she was withdrawn in the second half.

Notts County kept up pressure on Women's Super League leaders Chelsea with a 2-1 win against Liverpool.

Victory puts County three points behind the Blues, while champions Liverpool, who lost Fara Williams and Asisat Oshoala to injury during the match, are eight points off with a game in hand.

The Lady Magpies led when Jess Clarke fired in Alex Greenwood's free-kick but debutant striker Rosie White levelled.

Clarke netted the Notts winner on the back of smart play by Ellen White.

Liverpool played out the final stages of the game with just 10 players having used all their substitutes as Williams limped off.

They might have snatched a point but New Zealand international White was unable to add a second in her maiden WSL appearance.

Notts County striker Ellen White:

"We wanted to come to Liverpool and make a big performance and get those three points as that's what we needed.

"Liverpool have just beaten Arsenal so their confidence is really high, so we are really pleased to get the win.

"We came out all guns blazing; enthusiastic, energetic and really hard-working, and put as much pressure as possible on their back line and I thought we reaped the rewards of that."

Liverpool debutant Rosie White:

"It was good to get the first game under my belt.

"I'm not completely happy with the performance but it was good to get it behind me so now I can just get on with the season.

"It was good to get a goal too in my second game so I'm happy with that. I can't believe I've only been here for two weeks but it's been really good and I'm enjoying it so far."
