Lopez impressed Inverness on trial

Former Stevenage striker Dani Lopez has signed a one-year contract with Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

The 29-year-old, who has been on trial at Caledonian Stadium, spent the end of last season with La Roda in the third tier in his homeland.

He scored four goals in 16 appearances for the side from Castile-La Mancha who finished 15th in Segunda Division B Group 4.

Lopez was released by English League Two outfit Stevenage last summer.

Born in Madrid, he began his career with local club Navalcarnero before spells with Atletico Madrid's B and C teams and the B sides at Getafe and Espanyol.

Lopez also played for Laz Rozas and Badajoz before joining Stevenage in 2012.

However, he only played three times for the side then in England's League One before dropping down a division on loan to Aldershot.

Lopez subsequently had two loan spells with Barnet and left Stevenage after only making 15 appearances, and scoring three times, for the club.

Inverness manager John Hughes was seeking a forward replacement after the summer departures of Edward Ofere and Marley Watkins and days before Caley Thistle's Europa League debut against Romanian side Astra on Thursday.

Former Newcastle United youth JJ Hooper has also been on trial, the 21-year-old former Northampton Town striker having left Conference South outfit Havant & Waterlooville.
