Joe Rothwell and Ben Pearson: Man Utd pair join Barnsley on loan

Ben Pearson scored one goal in 22 games while on loan at Barnsley in 2014-15

Manchester United youngsters Joe Rothwell and Ben Pearson have joined Barnsley on six-month loan deals.

Midfielder Rothwell, 20, spent time on loan at Blackpool last season and has played for Manchester United Under-21s.

Fellow midfielder Pearson, also aged 20, returns to Oakwell after making 22 appearances on loan in 2014-15.

"I'm really pleased to be back. I had a great time and want to pick up where I left off but take us one step further," Pearson told the club website.

The pair's deals with the League One club will run until 3 January, 2016.
