Tottenham midfielder Benjamin Stambouli has joined French champions Paris St-Germain on a five-year deal for a fee reported to be about £6m.

The former France Under-21 player made just 12 appearances for Spurs after joining from Montpellier in September.

Stambouli, 24, was in the Montpellier squad that won the 2012 Ligue 1 title.

"France is going to rediscover a player that was full of promise when he was playing in Ligue 1," said PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

In total, Stambouli made 129 appearances for Montpellier before making the move to the Premier League.

"I wasn't necessarily planning to leave the Premier League after one year but when a club with the dimension of Paris St-Germain calls you, it makes your choice a lot easier," he said.
