Crewe Alexandra: Harry Davis named team captain for 2015-16

Davis has come through the Crewe academy and has so far made 168 appearances

Crewe Alexandra have announced that defender Harry Davis will captain the team this season.

The 23-year-old replaces Matt Tootle as skipper following the latter's summer move to Shrewsbury Town.

Davis wore the armband for much of last season because Tootle missed most of the campaign with an ankle injury.

"Harry is a leader. He showed that last season and he has a great fondness for the club and that makes him a good candidate," boss Steve Davis said.

However, Davis will miss Saturday's opening game of the League One season, against Port Vale, with a knee injury picked up during pre-season.
