Portsmouth 2-1 Derby County
- Published
League Two side Portsmouth shocked Championship club Derby to reach the second round of the League Cup.
Substitute Conor Chaplin scored the winner for the home team with a first-time strike to finish off a smart move.
Forward Adam McGurk had headed the hosts ahead, aided by a mistake by goalkeeper Lee Grant, who let the ball squirm through his hands.
Defender Jason Shackell equalised with a header following a corner, before Johnny Russell curled a free-kick over.
Derby's best chance in the first half fell to Andreas Weimann, whose goalbound effort was blocked well.
The Austrian also hit the side-netting after a good run, with Pompey's Jayden Stockley and Gareth Evans having efforts saved by Grant.
