League Two side Accrington Stanley have signed former Wigan midfielder Jack Phillips on a short-term contract.

The move reunites Phillips, 21, with his former primary school teacher and now Stanley manager, John Coleman.

Phillips, who was released by Wigan in 2014, spent last season with eighth-tier side Prescot Cables.

"He was a great player when he was at school. He is one for the future and could be a real find," Coleman told the club's website. , external
