Josh Murphy's extra-time goal sent MK Dons through to the League Cup third round as they overcame Championship rivals Cardiff City at Stadium:MK.

Cardiff took the lead when Alex Revell latched on to Craig Noone's ball to fire home at the far post.

Carl Baker took the tie to extra time when he rifled Robert Hall's rebounded shot past Cardiff keeper Simon Moore.

But Murphy sent the hosts through to the third round with a debut goal when he poked home a loose ball.

MK Dons, who beat Manchester United 4-0 on their way to the fourth round last season, will host Premier League outfit Southampton in round three.
