Derby County striker Chris Martin says getting a first league win this season is more important than reaching his 50-goal milestone for the club.

The 26-year-old has scored 49 times since joining from Norwich in 2013.

He told BBC Radio Derby: "I am trying not to think about it. For me, it's just the next goal and the next win for the team.

"It is nice to get that kind of recognition but the most important thing is getting that first win."

The Rams, who sit 16th in the early-season Championship table having drawn their first four games, host Leeds on Saturday.

Martin was part of the Derby side which lost the 2014 play-off final to QPR and missed out on the play-offs last season despite being top of the table in February.

"Ultimately, I have not achieved the big goal we set out to do," Martin added. "We've had a couple of disappointments.

"That's really driving us on this year. Everyone will have personal targets, but the bigger picture is we want to get promoted out of this division.

"I want to contribute to winning things, winning games, but also hopefully winning championships and medals."
