Huddersfield have signed midfielder Emyr Huws on a season-long loan from Wigan in a deal which has seen striker Jordy Hiwula go the other way.

Huws, 21, who has four Wales caps, will stay at the Championship club until May 2016 but can be recalled in January.

England Under-19 international Hiwula, 20, has signed for the League One side until the end of the campaign.

"I'm delighted to bring Emyr in as he's a high-quality footballer," Town boss Chris Powell said.

"Although he operates in central midfield, Emyr is a naturally left-footed player and addresses a missing balance in our options," Powell told the club website., external

Huws started his career at Swansea City's Academy. He then moved to Manchester City in 2009 where he made his only appearance as a substitute in an FA Cup third-round replay against Blackburn Rovers in January 2014.

He joined Wigan in September 2014 and has played 11 times for the Latics.

Hiwula also came through the ranks at Manchester City before joining Huddersfield in July.
