Dick Advocaat makes Sunderland transfer promise

Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat says he has no plans to walk away from the club and promised not to repeat the transfer mistakes of previous managers.
The Black Cats have taken only one point from their opening three Premier League matches of the season.
Advocaat, 67, has been critical of money wasted on "lower than average" players, external by his Sunderland predecessors.
"Transfers, I wonder what they have done. So hopefully we don't make those kind of mistakes," Advocaat said.
"I have fully an understanding about the concerns and what happened in the past. If we see the salary for some players, how can we give that?"
Advocaat made his sixth signing of the summer on Friday with the arrival of Swedish midfielder Ola Toivonen on loan from Rennes.
The Dutchman saved Sunderland from relegation last season and said immediately afterwards he no longer wished to continue his managerial career.
However, he reversed that decision and signed a one-year contract to remain at the Stadium of Light.
Despite Sunderland's difficult start to the campaign in the league Advocaat has reaffirmed his commitment to the club ahead of Saturday's trip to Aston Villa.
"I have never said I would quit this club because there is no reason to," he said.
"With all respect I have never said I would leave. Maybe my face is not always happy but there was always a reason for that."
