Northampton Town 1-0 Oxford United

Northampton claimed a hard-fought victory over Oxford despite playing the entire second half with 10 men.

Nicky Adams' pinpoint cross found Sam Hoskins, whose bullet header gave the home side the lead.

Jason Taylor was dismissed for an off-the-ball foul on Callum O'Dowda but Danny Hylton's resulting penalty was saved by Adam Smith.

Despite having the man advantage, Oxford could not muster any real chances as Northampton saw out the win.

Northampton Town manager Chris Wilder tells BBC Radio Northampton:

Wilder on Northampton v Oxford

"It's been a bit of a hectic week but I think everybody has gone about it in the right way and the club today came together as one.

"It was an outstanding effort from the players, they kept their shape really well and the fans were outstanding.

"I can see why the referee sent Jason Taylor off but the work rate from the team was excellent."
