Benni McCarthy: Ex-striker given assistant coach role in Belgium

Sint-Truidense were impressed by Benni McCarthy's work with the club's strikers
South Africa legend Benni McCarthy has been appointed assistant coach of Belgian top-flight side Sint-Truidense.
The 37-year-old, who is Bafana Bafana's record goalscorer, will be number two to Northern Irishman Chris O'Loughlin, who replaces Yannick Ferrera.
Former striker McCarthy had been working with the forwards at Sint-Truidense since February.
He told the club's website: "I hope I will make everyone happy by working hard and helping the team win games."
McCarthy, who was born in Cape Town, enjoyed a successful career around the world.
His biggest success came under Jose Mourinho at Porto, winning the Champions League in 2004. He also won the league title with the Portuguese club, as well as with Ajax in Netherlands and in South Africa with Orlando Pirates.
McCarthy played 80 times for South Africa and scored 32 goals.
