Crisis club Torquay United dropped into the National League relegation zone with defeat against Boreham Wood.

The visitors took an early lead when Graham Montgomery fired home a low free free-kick from the edge of the box.

Mustafa Tiryaki made it 2-0 with another free-kick, before Alex Fisher pulled one back after great work by substitute Louis Briscoe.

But the managerless Gulls were unable to avoid stretching their winless run to nine games.

The defeat came three days after they lost 7-3 at home to Bromley, while their last victory was on 15 August, when they beat Halifax 3-2.

Paul Cox resigned as Torquay manager last Friday while director of football Dean Edwards left the club on Sunday night, with Cox's former assistant John Ramshaw in temporary charge of the side.
