David Marshall: Cardiff City goalkeeper has ban reduced

Cardiff City captain David Marshall has had his three-match ban for a red card in the 2-1 defeat at Rotherham reduced to two following an appeal.

The Scotland goalkeeper was shown a red card and conceded a penalty towards the end of the first half for kicking out at Rotherham striker Matt Derbyshire.

Bluebirds manager Russell Slade said he had no complaints about Marshall's dismissal.

But Slade thought a free-kick should have been awarded prior to that.

"The first offence is a free-kick to ourselves," said Slade, who claimed Derbyshire had pulled Marshall's shirt.

Slade criticised referee Keith Hill. "It's a free-kick on Marshall. How the referee can say he has not seen that is beyond me."

Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe scored the subsequent penalty to put the Millers ahead.

Peter Whittingham's fierce penalty after Farrend Rawson brought down Fabio levelled matters before half-time, and Rotherham won it when Matthew Connolly turned Chris Maguire's cross into his own net.
