Norwich defender Sebastien Bassong says he has learnt from his mistakes after coming back into the Carrow Road fold.

Bassong, 29, was sent out on loan last term, but has been a mainstay since boss Alex Neil's January appointment, playing in all eight games this season.

"I haven't done everything right, if there's some trouble I blame myself first," he told BBC Radio Norfolk.

"I wanted to make it right. I put my head down, I worked. People who had a misunderstanding of me were wrong."

The Cameroon international is the only player to have started all of Norwich's matches so far this season, having spent the first half of last term on loan at Watford.

He returned to the Canaries starting line-up on 31 January in a 0-0 draw at Birmingham, and played a further 20 games as they won promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs.

And the former Tottenham defender is philosophical about what has happened over the last year.

"It's not just in football, it's what happens in life; things go wrong sometimes and there's ups and downs," he said.

"The most important thing is to get back on track and forget about things and try to look forward - that's what happened with me.

"Now I'm playing games. We don't know what will happen in the future so I'm just enjoying the present moment."
