Glenavon moved to within one point of fourth-placed Coleraine in the Irish Premiership table thanks to Joel Cooper's 49th-minute winning goal against Ballinamallard United.

Kevin Braniff's flick found Cooper and he twisted and turned on the edge of the penalty area, before firing past home goalkeeper Alvin Rouse.

Braniff rounded the keeper but fired into the sidenetting soon after.

Eoin Bradley saw his effort cleared off the line by Colm McLoughlin.

The Lurgan Blues dominated possession for much of the first half and Rouse blocked an attempt by Braniff, while the Mallards keeper also saved from a James Singleton header, after which Andy McGrory shot wide.

For the hosts, Liam Martin was off-target, Steve Feeney was unable to convert from six yards and Johnny Tuffey tipped a Johnny Courtney drive from 25 yards round the post.

Cooper's second goal of the season soon after the break proved enough for the Lurgan Blues to secure victory.
