Eastleigh: Chris Todd hopeful of permanent manager's job

Eastleigh hope to appoint the club's new manager on Wednesday

Eastleigh are closing in on naming their new manager, with caretaker boss Chris Todd still in contention.

The National League club have been searching for a successor to Richard Hill, who resigned last month.

Eastleigh beat Wrexham 3-2 in Todd's first game in charge on 26 September, but the Spitfires were beaten 2-0 at home to Braintree last time out.

"It has been an incredible ride," Todd told BBC Radio Solent of his last couple of weeks at the helm.

"As far as I am aware they are doing interviews and then they are going to make the decision on Wednesday.

"I don't know where I stand as such yet. I have just got to play it by ear and of course I want the job, I have enjoyed it and feel I have so much more to offer."

Eastleigh travel to in-form Tranmere on Saturday, where Todd will come up against a familiar face in the dugout.

Tranmere manager Gary Brabin's old side Cambridge played against Todd - and lost - in the 2009 Conference play-off final while he was with Torquay.

Todd, who is able to welcome back defender Jamie Turley and striker James Constable from injury, is anticipating a tough game.

Todd added: "I played against his team at Wembley. He has an organised side with people who know the level and have been successful."
