Notts County 2-1 Portsmouth

Alan Sheehan's first goal since returning to Notts County on loan secured victory for the Magpies against promotion-challenging Portsmouth.

The visitors, who are third in the table, took the lead when Caolan Lavery tapped in Enda Stevens' low cross.

Graham Burke then found the net with a sublime volley to level the scores.

Having returned to Meadow Lane on loan from Bradford at the end of September, Sheehan stepped up to curl in the decisive free-kick after the break.

Cook on Notts County v Portsmouth

Portsmouth manager Paul Cook speaks to BBC Radio Solent:

"I felt it was a good game of football. I thought we played well, Unfortunately we couldn't win and we've got to be better.

"It meant a lot to Notts County to beat us today, they worked hard, they've done well.

"Success doesn't come in a day or a week unfortunately for us all with football. It's a lot of hard work and it's a lot of mistakes; if you look at our players today we certainly made some mistakes and we hopefully will learn from them."
