Harry Kane: Tottenham striker ends goal drought with hat-trick

Harry Kane says his poor goalscoring form is behind him after netting a hat-trick in Tottenham's 5-1 victory at Bournemouth on Sunday.

Kane, 22, had previously only netted once in the Premier League this season.

"You're never going to just be on a high, you're going to have ups and downs," Kane told BBC Sport.

"It's about maintaining your focus, not getting too carried away and trying to stay patient. That's what I've been doing," added the 22-year-old.

"I don't think I've been doing that badly overall. Today the ball dropped for me nicely and I was able to put it in the back of the net."

Spurs head coach Mauricio Pochettino believes Kane, who scored 32 goals for club and country in 2014-15, will have benefitted from his lean patch of goalscoring form.

"It's important for us, for the team and for him," said Pochettino. "We always believed in him.

"Now he can understand the good and the bad in football. For him, he'll have learned a lot during this period. In football, sometimes you learn a lot in the bad moments."

Mousa Dembele and Erik Lamela also found the net as Tottenham extended their unbeaten run in the Premier League to nine matches, despite conceding a goal to Bournemouth's Matt Ritchie inside the first minute.

"I'm obviously delighted to get a hat-trick, but the most important thing is that we won comfortably," said Kane.

"We didn't get off to the best start but we showed our character to get the equaliser early on and then we pushed on from there. We're buzzing with the result."
