Premier League predictions: Lawro v rugby league star Sam Tomkins
- Published
BBC Sport's football expert Mark Lawrenson is pitting his wits against a different guest each week this season.
Lawro's opponent for this weekend's Premier League fixtures is England rugby league star Sam Tomkins.
The Wigan Warriors full-back has a knee injury that has ruled him out of the England team to play New Zealand on Saturday, and he will miss the rest of their three-match Test series in November.
But Tomkins, a Manchester United fan whose favourite player of all time is Ryan Giggs, was fit enough to take on Lawro,
Giggs "could have been a rugby league winger" according to Tomkins but it is another United player who he thinks is best suited to his sport.
"Wayne Rooney, definitely," Tomkins told BBC Sport. "I reckon he could have been like a niggly little half-back."
You can hear some of Sam's tales of following United on Football Focus at 12:10 GMT on Saturday on BBC One and the BBC Sport website.
And you can watch England play their first Test against New Zealand in Hull at 16:45 GMT on Saturday, live on BBC Two and the BBC Sport website.

Our scoring system has changed this season and a correct result (picking a win, draw or defeat) is now worth 10 points. The exact score earns 40 points.
Last weekend, Lawro got four correct results from 10 Premier League games, with no perfect scores.
His score of 40 points saw him beat singer Paul Heaton, who picked one correct result with no perfect scores, to go joint-bottom of the guest leaderboard with 10 points.
We are keeping a record of the totals for Lawro and his guests (below), and showing a table of how the Premier League would look if all of Lawro's predictions were correct (at the bottom of the page).
