Blackpool want emergency loan keeper after Kyle Letheren's injury

Blackpool manager Neil McDonald will look to sign a new goalkeeper on an emergency loan after Kyle Letheren suffered a suspected broken collarbone.

The 27-year-old, who was standing in for the injured Colin Doyle, was forced off during Tuesday's loss against Wigan in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

Youth team goalkeeper Myles Boney had to came on as a 77th minute substitute.

"We'll try as we can't expect a 17-year-old to be in goal from the start," McDonald told BBC Radio Lancashire.

Despite the 4-0 defeat against their fellow League One opponents, the 50-year-old was pleased with his side's efforts for the first hour at the DW Stadium.

However, McDonald admitted their lack of cutting edge in front of goal was a concern.

"I felt the performance for the first 60 minutes was better than against Barnet but you are never pleased when you concede goals," he said.

"They were very clinical tonight and when the chances came along they put the ball in the back of the net and showed us how to do it.

"We concede far too many goals and do not create enough chances, our attacking play has to be better and when we have a chance to hit the target we have to."
