Harry Wilson: Liverpool youngster aiming for Wales Euro 2016 spot

Liverpool winger Harry Wilson has targeted a placed in Wales' senior squad at Euro 2016.

Wilson, 18, became the youngest ever Welsh international in 2013 when aged 16 years and 207 days he won his first cap against Belgium.

Wales boss Chris Coleman has said there are "places up for grabs" in his 23-man squad for next summer's European Championship finals.

"I think it has to be an aim," Wilson said.

Wilson, on loan at Crewe Alexandra from Liverpool, scored the winner in Wales Under 21s 2-1 win over Armenia and played in the 1-1 draw against Romania.

Wales Under-21 manager Geraint Williams says a number of players are challenging to be part of the senior side's Euro 2016 squad.

"The first team have done fantastic to get to France next summer but I think we concentrate on playing well," Wilson added.

"If you're playing well and putting in good performances it gives you the best chance to be on that plane.

"Chris has got Wales playing fantastic football and if us young lads keep performing then there's always a chance to get on that plane."

Wilson has yet to make a first team appearance for Liverpool and is on loan at League One Crewe until January.

But the Wrexham-born youngster has met with new Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and is keen to make his mark when he returns to his parent club.

"Hopefully when I go back I can impress him," Wilson said.

"It gives you a big boost knowing the manager is willing to give the young players a chance.

"If you're training well and playing well it you give yourself the best opportunity."
