Irish Premiership: Glentoran 1-1 Dungannon Swifts

Alan Kernaghan is still searching for his first win as Glentoran manager after his side could only draw at home against struggling Dungannon Swifts.

Youngster Jonathan Smith missed a first-half Glentoran penalty as Swifts keeper Andy Coleman dived full length to make a great save.

Dungannon took the lead on 47 minutes as Andy Mitchell headed home a Paul McElroy cross.

Smith regrouped from his penalty miss to equalise on 55 minutes.

Glentoran protested that they were unjustly denied a first-half goal as a Karl Hamill header was ruled to have been cleared off the line.

The home players were insistent that the ball had been over the line.

But it was a largely pedestrian first-half display for the Glens with Dungannon's Alan Taggart testing Elliot Morris and Cormac Burke also blasting over a decent Swifts chance.

After Smith cancelled out Mitchell's goal, Glentoran did produce a period of pressure but the home side ran out of steam in the closing stages as Dungannon comfortably held on for a point.
