Swansea City manager Garry Monk says he has the "full backing" of the club's chairman Huw Jenkins.

With the board considering his position after just one win in nine Premier League games, Monk has faced increasing scrutiny.

But as the Swans face Liverpool on Sunday, Monk denied he had been given any timescale to improve results.

"He [Jenkins] is extraordinarily supportive. That word trust is from top to bottom [of the club]," he said.

"I speak to the chairman regularly, every week. We talk about performances, we talk about players, we talk about transfers,

"He has given me his full backing. He understands how it works, he understands the process we are going through,.

"He understands unity is the only way through it. He fully supports that, as the players do, as I do - everyone at the club, that is how you get through these periods."

Monk believes one win could spark a turnaround in the club's fortunes and is looking forward to taking on Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool on Sunday.

"The way football works sometimes when you are faced with adversity, as a player, as a manager, as a group there is one way to come out to show that fighting spirit and quality," Monk added.

''We have the quality for sure. If we can get that solid performance, that right result that we want, football allows you that. It allows you the chance to always put it right, that is the good thing with sport.

''We have the chance this weekend to put it right and try and back up the point we had at the weekend [against Bournemouth] and try to build some momentum again."

The Swans will be without former Liverpool player Jonjo Shelvey because the England midfielder is suspended for one game after receiving five yellow cards this season.

Otherwise Monk has a fully fit squad available.

Monk said there had been no official approach from Brentford for his assistant manager Pep Clotet, who has been linked with the head coach vacancy at that Championship club.
