Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland will not be sold in January and is undervalued at £20m, says club manager Mark Hughes.

England international Butland, 22, signed a new four-year deal in March and took over the number one spot when Asmir Begovic left for Chelsea in July.

"Jack's going nowhere," said Hughes. "People are aware of him - and they have been for a long time."

When asked about a £20m valuation, he said: "Do I think that's a fair value? No. We wouldn't place a value on him."

Liverpool and Merseyside rivals Everton have been linked with a move for the 6ft 5in keeper.

"Jack forced his way into the England squad when he was 19," said Hughes.

"He's had a great career progression, every step he's taken he's dealt with. Now it's about consolidating himself in a very good Premier League team. That's the challenge for him."

Butland began his career at Birmingham City. He was a surprise name in England's Euro 2012 squad, although he did not make an appearance in the tournament.

When he made his international debut in a friendly against Italy on 15 August that year, he became the youngest England goalkeeper at 19 years 158 days.

Signed by the Potters in January 2013 for a fee rising to £3.5m, Butland has kept five clean sheets in 15 appearances this season.
