Darren Way ready for Yeovil Town challenge

Darren Way made more than 200 appearances across three spells for Yeovil Town

Yeovil Town interim manager Darren Way says he is prepared for the challenge of guiding the club out of League Two's relegation zone.

Way was put in caretaker charge after Tuesday's departure of Paul Sturrock.

The club have gone 12 league games without a victory and are in danger of suffering a third straight relegation.

"It's a tough job, of course it is, I would not be sat here if I didn't think I could take this club back to where it's been," Way told BBC Somerset.

Yeovil have 11 points from 20 games and have only won twice all season, but are still just two points from safety.

And, despite their plight, Way says he is relishing the challenge.

"I'm enjoying every minute of it," he said. "It's something I've always looked to go into.

"Did I think it would come along so soon? No. Am I embracing it? Yes. Am I scared of the challenge ahead? No. I'm going to give it everything I've got.

"I've got people calling me gaffer now so there is a responsibility. I have to try and create a winning environment and I have to win football matches. I can deal with that responsibility."

Despite his interim status, Way says he is keen to take on the job permanently.

"I'm manager of the football club as it stands right now," he said. "I want to be manager of Yeovil Town, I've dreamed of doing that since I was young. I'm not frightened of the challenge.

"I'm going to keep it simple. I want the supporters to sense it, feel it and see it.

"The players know what I want. I want forward runs, forward balls and when they lose possession, run as quickly as they can to win it back."
