England and Manchester City defender Lucy Bronze has been named player of the year at the Football Association Women's Football Awards.

The 24-year-old was part of the England squad that finished third at the World Cup in Canada.

She scored a long-range winner in the second round against Norway and the second goal in a 2-1 win over Canada in the quarter-finals.

Sunderland striker Beth Mead was named young player of the year.

The 20-year-old earned a first England call-up and finished as top scorer in the Women's Super League with 12 goals in 14 games.

Mead was also named players' player of the year in WSL1, while Sunderland were named club of the year in the top division.

Doncaster Rovers Belles won that award for WSL2 after finishing runners-up to Reading.

Emma Hayes won manager of the year in WSL1 after leading Chelsea to the league and FA Cup double.
