Hibernian: Stubbs cannot help speculation linking him elsewhere

Hibernian boss Alan Stubbs says as long as his team continues winning games there will always be speculation linking him with other clubs.

Stubbs was named Championship manager of the month for November with five straight wins.

Reports have linked him with the Reading job after Steve Clarke was sacked last week.

"As long as I keep winning games of football yes there is going to be links to potential other jobs." said Stubbs.

"I don't look at something I am not in control of. I don't control a club being linked with me. All I control is my football club."

Stubbs joined Hibernian in June of 2014 just a few weeks after the club suffered relegation to the Championship.

This season after a sticky start they have been on a terrific run of form with fourteen wins and a draw in their last fifteen matches.

"I don't look at my next step (in management) I look at my next game," he told BBC Scotland.

"My relationship with everyone at the football club is very good, it's very professional and as long as I am here it will always be that way.

"We are building a team that is hoping to be right there come the end of the season and we have got a lot to play for."

Stubbs, 44, spent five years working as a youth coach at Everton before making his way to Easter Road for his first job as a standalone coach.

He insists he is ambitious and maybe one day take a step up the management ladder.

"As a player I wanted to play at the highest level. As a coach or a manager then one day I would like to coach at the highest level. If I didn't have those aspirations and dreams then there would be no point in me entering this business that I am in."
