Champions League draw: English clubs to learn Euro fate on Monday

Manchester City topped Group D ahead of Italian side Juventus

Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City will learn who they face in the last 16 of the Champions League when the draw is made in Switzerland on Monday.

Chelsea and Manchester City will be in pot one having qualified as group winners, meaning either could face French champions Paris St-Germain.

As Group F runners-up, Arsenal are in pot two and potentially face either Real Madrid or Barcelona.

The draw takes place at 11:00 GMT at Uefa's headquarters in Nyon.

How is the draw structured?

There are two seeding pots - one consisting of group winners, the other containing the runners-up.

Chelsea and Manchester City will be in the former after topping Groups G and D respectively, with Arsenal in the latter after snatching second place in Group F courtesy of their 3-0 win over Olympiakos.

No team can play a club from their group or any side from their own association, meaning the English sides cannot face each other until the last eight, should they make it that far.

Arsenal will not face German champions Bayern Munich, Manchester City avoid Italian champions Juventus and Chelsea cannot face Dynamo Kiev.

Who could the English sides face?

Arsenal: Real Madrid (Spa), Wolfsburg (Ger), Atletico Madrid (Spa), Barcelona (Spa), Zenit St Petersburg (Rus).

Chelsea: Paris St-Germain (Fra), PSV Eindhoven (Ned), Benfica (Por), Juventus (Ita), Roma (Ita) or Gent (Bel).

Manchester City: Paris St-Germain (Fra), PSV Eindhoven (Ned), Benfica (Por), Roma (Ita), Dynamo Kiev (Ukr) or Gent (Bel).

When will the ties take place?

First legs are scheduled to take place on 16/17 and 23/24 February, with the pot one teams away from home.

Return legs take place on 8/9 and 15/16 March.

Exact dates are dependent on the draw - efforts will be made to ensure English sides play on different days, while Atletico and Real Madrid cannot play a home return leg on the same night.

The draw for the quarter-finals will be held at 11:00 GMT on 18 March with the semi-final line-up drawn on 15 April, also at 12:00 GMT.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger: "I've not even looked at [who we can get]. We were so much out of it that I put all my focus on staying in.

"The result [against Olympiakos] makes us stronger and strengthens our belief. When you do that it creates a positive memory for rest of the season. Maybe it is a lucky year for us in the Champions League?"

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho: "A team struggling so much like we are is not obviously a candidate to win the Champions League.

"But when we won at Porto in 2004, we were not candidates. When we won at Inter in 2010, we were not candidates. When we were candidates, we lost two semi-finals with Real Madrid, we lost two semi-finals with Chelsea, so let's see."

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini: "It's better to finish first because you can avoid important teams for just one stage more. But if you hope to win the title, you have to play against the big teams.

"I think that if we play the way we did in the second half [in the 4-2 win over Borussia Monchengladbach], we can play against any team."
