Chester 0-2 Macclesfield Town

  • Published

Macclesfield secured a second successive away win to bolster their National League promotion hopes at the expense of Cheshire rivals Chester.

Chester had no answer to two fortune-assisted goals from the Silkmen inside six first-half minutes.

First home skipper Ian Sharps put through his own net, comically slicing in Daniel Rowe's left-wing cross.

Then Kristian Dennis scored from the spot following a contested penalty decision, awarded for pushing.

Chester improved after the break following winger Craig Mahon's half-time introduction in a tactical reshuffle which saw Sharps taken off, but Macclesfield still ran out worthy winners.
