Patrick Bamford has issued an apology after describing his loan spell at Crystal Palace as "terrible".
The Chelsea striker, 22, revealed he was returning to Stamford Bridge following Palace's 0-0 draw with Swansea on Monday, apparently before he had told Eagles' manager Alan Pardew.
"That was my last game for Palace. It has been terrible," he said.
But in a statement on his Twitter page, external on Wednesday, Bamford wrote: "My comments were taken out of context."
He added: "I want to apologise. I've really enjoyed my time at Palace, the lads were brilliant, the gaffer and training were great.
"I couldn't have been at a nicer club. I'm just disappointed I couldn't do more for the team."
The England Under-21 international did not make a Premier League start after arriving from Chelsea on a season-long loan in the summer.
He made five league appearances as a substitute, with his only two starts for Palace coming in the League Cup.
