John Still returns as Dagenham and Redbridge manager

John Still's last game in charge of Luton was a 4-3 loss at home to Northampton Town on 12 December

Dagenham and Redbridge have appointed John Still as their new manager.

It will be Still's third spell in charge of League Two Daggers, having led the club from 1992-1994 and from 2004-2013, where he took them from the Conference to League One.

Still was sacked as Luton Town manager earlier this month after almost three years at Kenilworth Road.

"I'm delighted. The club has been important to me since I was 15 years old," Still told the club website.

"I've come back and it's like putting on an old pair of slippers, they just fitted back in really," the 65-year-old added.

"The staff and people around the ground are similar. There is no real settling in period now. It's just a case of getting to know the players and trying to get results that are much needed."

Still has agreed a contract until the end of the 2016-17 season and replaces Wayne Burnett, who succeeded Still as manager in February 2013.

Burnett was sacked earlier this month after a run of one win in 16 games left Dagenham bottom of League Two.

"I'm absolutely delighted to have John back, in the situation that we find ourselves in, I truly believe that he is the right man to turn things around," added chairman David Bennett.
