Durham: Wildcats sign defender Sarah McFadden from Sunderland

Durham Women have signed defender Sarah McFadden from Sunderland Ladies.

The 28-year-old spent four years at the Lady Black Cats, making 14 appearances for the WSL 1 side last season.

McFadden, who can also play in midfield and up front as well, has been capped 40 times for Northern Ireland - scoring four goals.

"I have really enjoyed my last five years at Sunderland but feel at this in my career I want a new challenge," McFadden told the club website., external

"It's important for me to get back playing regularly after recent injuries and after training with the girls and speaking with Lee (Sanders, general manager), Durham is the perfect opportunity for me.

"Hopefully we can compete with some of the top teams in the league and push for promotion."
