Falkirk: Kevin McCann secures contract as Kieran Duffie exits

Falkirk have signed one full-back and released another, with former Hibernian and Livingston defender Kevin McCann winning a deal as Kieran Duffie exits.

Duffie, 23, is a product of the club's youth development system and reached an agreement to cancel his contract, having not played this season.

He has been troubled by injury in recent months.

McCann, 28, has signed until the end of the season after impressing on trial following a spell playing in Singapore.

The former Scotland Under-21 player had been with Warriors in the S.League since 2014.

Falkirk manager Peter Houston told his club website: "Kevin has done well since coming in on trial.

"He has worked hard and has a decent bit of experience at this level.

"I've spoken about looking to strengthen in the full-back area and I'm pleased to be able to confirm the signing of Kevin to add more depth to the squad."

McCann began his career with Hibs and spent time on loan at Inverness Caledonian Thistle before spells with Greenock Morton, Livingston and Raith Rovers.

He made 47 appearances for Warriors, who finished fifth in Singapore's top flight last year.

Duffie had made 167 first-team appearances for Falkirk, who sit third in the Scottish Championship, and his last game was their Scottish Cup final defeat by Caley Thistle in May.

"Kieran has been unfortunate with injuries and we've come to an agreement that it is best for him to move on," added Houston.
