James Alabi turned down an approach from Sheffield Wednesday to join Ipswich

Striker James Alabi has had his contract with Championship side Ipswich Town cancelled by mutual consent.

The 21-year-old joined in the summer following his release by Stoke City and made one first-team appearance, scoring in August's 4-1 Capital One Cup win over Doncaster.

He also had a three-game loan spell with Grimsby Town but failed to score.

"James now departs Suffolk for pastures new and we wish him well," the club said in a statement., external
