Quadruple not 'realistic' - Man City boss Manuel Pellegrini

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has played down talk of the club winning the quadruple this year.

City are through to the League Cup final after beating Everton in midweek and second in the Premier League.

They are also in the knockout stages of Champions League and face Aston Villa in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday.

But Pellegrini said: "If I start talking about it, it will make it look as though I am thinking about it. It is not a realistic target."

Villa are bottom of the top flight but the Midlands side held City to a goalless draw in November's league fixture.

"We have to look at Aston Villa. If we don't beat them it is all over," added Pellegrini.

"We will play a strong team."

Will there be any new arrivals at City?

City play Dynamo Kiev in the first leg of their last-16 tie in the Champions League four days before the League Cup final against Liverpool at Wembley on 28 February.

That weekend's league game against Newcastle has been postponed as a result and Pellegrini is wary of the fixture congestion his side could face.

"If we continue in the Champions League and the FA Cup we have two more games suspended," he said.

"It is difficult to find a date when you can play all those games."

Despite Kevin de Bruyne joining Vincent Kompany, Aleksandar Kolarov, Eliaquim Mangala and Wilfried Bony on the injury list, Pellegrini is not contemplating any new signings.

He said: "It is not our intention to bring anyone in. I trust in my squad and I am sure we will be competitive."
