John-Prince Rylah: Torquay United sign teenage forward

Torquay United boss Kevin Nicholson says he has taken a 'gamble' on signing youngster John-Prince Rylah.

The 18-year-old forward has joined the Gulls on a non-contract basis having previously been part of Millwall's academy and with Isthmian League Division One South side Walton Casuals.

He is the sixth player to have signed for the club since January.

"He's a bit of a dark horse and a bit of a gamble to be totally honest," Nicholson told BBC Radio Devon.

"I didn't know that much about him, I usually do a lot of research on whoever we're going to sign and make sure that they tick all the right boxes.

"JP comes off the back of a recommendation of a very trusted friend, he wants an opportunity to get involved.

"It's a classic football story a young lad gets a chance because of circumstances at at a football club and hopefully that enthusiasm and will to do well will do him good."

The Gulls, who are currently second-from-bottom of the National League and 10 points from safety have brought in Shaun Harrad, Nathan Blissett, Iffy Allen, Danny Racchi and Josh Rees since the turn of the year.
