Steven Pressley: Fleetwood are 'fighting for their lives'

Fleetwood have drawn seven of their last 10 matches in all competitions

Fleetwood Town boss Steven Pressley says the club are "fighting for their lives" as they struggle for form in League One.

Pressley's side have a number of injuries and have recorded just one win in their last nine league matches.

The Cod Army remain 21st following Sunday's goalless draw with Shrewsbury and one point from safety.

"We have to strengthen as we ask too much of the same players week in week out," he told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"It's difficult to turn it round from Thursday to Sunday with the amount of personnel changes due to injuries," he added,

"At this moment in time we are fighting for our lives and it's important that we all realise that."

Pressley highlighted the importance of adding to his squad to combat their injury problems and fight for third-tier survival.

"We've been very careful on the training ground not to work them too hard in recent weeks but we need a good bit of depth to the group," the former Coventry boss said.

"The summer's going to be a really important period but it's about getting to the summer and making sure that we stay in this league and make the right signings at this moment in time."
