PSV Eindhoven's last-16 Champions League tie with Atletico Madrid is finely poised after the hosts survived the last 22 minutes with 10 men.

Atletico Madrid, the 2014 runners-up, will start as favourites to advance to the quarter-finals when the two teams meet in the second leg at the Vicente Calderon on 15 March.

Atletico's scoring problems mount for Simeone

PSV Eindhoven boss Phillip Cocu: "I am very satisfied with this result. I said beforehand that if we could keep a clean sheet at home it would put us in a good position for the second leg."

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone: "Goals will come. They're a tough opponent. I'm relaxed with the fact we have the game at home in the second leg. The only thing we missed was scoring a goal.

"From the start of the game we pressed them, played in their half and created chances. In the second half we controlled the game and Oblak didn't have a save to make, so I am very happy with the team."
