Rhyl & Haverfordwest given Welsh Premier survival hope
- Published
Rhyl and Haverfordwest County could earn a Welsh Premier League relegation reprieve as Port Talbot Town face the drop after failing a domestic licence.
The Steelmen and Cymru Alliance feeder league top two Caernarfon and Denbigh did not win the mandatory licence needed for Welsh Premier inclusion.
So Haverfordwest and two-time champions Rhyl could stay up but clubs can appeal the independent panel decision.
Barry Town secured a licence so can go up if the leaders win the Welsh League.
Licenses are awarded based on criteria including sporting, youth & coaching, infrastructure and financial.
Cefn Druids and Flint Town, third and ninth in North Wales' Alliance League, were granted Welsh Premier licenses but must be in the top two to seal promotion.
Cardiff Met University - who are second in the Welsh League, a point behind Barry with three games in hand - have also had their licence rejected.
All clubs who failed to gain the criteria are able to appeal on Thursday, 21 April.
