Paddy Madden's winning goal against Port Vale kept alive Scunthorpe's hopes of reaching the League One play-offs.

Scunthorpe are level on points with sixth-placed Barnsley with just one game to play.

Madden, who now has 22 goals this season, headed in Stephen Dawson's cross after the break.

The Iron's fifth consecutive victory came in front of 7,275 fans, their biggest attendance at Glanford Park this season.

Scunthorpe are away at Sheffield United on 8 May and will finish in the top six if they better Barnsley's result at promoted Wigan.
