Brett Williams has scored four goals in 22 National League appearances since joining Forest Green from Stevenage in November 2015

Forest Green beat Dover to end a seven-game winless run, four days before the two sides meet again in the National League play-off semi-finals.

Their win came three days after sacking boss Ady Pennock - a move that chairman Dale Vince said would give Rovers the "best" chance of going up.

Rovers' Elliott Frear had the best chance of the first half tipped onto the post by Dover keeper Andy Rafferty.

Brett Williams' fine run and finish after the break won it for Rovers.

Dover host Forest Green, who finished second in the table, in the first leg of their semi-final on Wednesday, with the return fixture on Saturday, 7 May.
