Wycombe Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth says the League Two club is still in a precarious financial position

The Chairboys were taken over by a fans' trust in June 2012 and are ninth in the table after reaching the play-off final last season.

"We're on a knife-edge and we could go one way or another.

"We're balancing the books, we're heading slowly in the right direction, but it's a long, long way to go," he told BBC Three Counties Radio.

Wycombe reached the third round of the FA Cup this season and took Premier League club Aston Villa to a replay, but are seven points outside the play-off places with only two games remaining.

"The club is stable which is great, it's owned by the fans again, which is great, but we still have big debts around our necks," added Ainsworth.

"We just need to keep our heads above water, keep moving in the right direction with people coming down and getting behind us.

"I'll work as much as I have to to make it work and keep this club on a solid footing and hopefully we can get some success on the football side as well."
