Cian Bolger: Fleetwood Town sign former Southend United centre-back

Cian Bolger made a combined 34 appearances for Southend and Bury last season

Fleetwood Town have continued their recruitment drive for next season by signing defender Cian Bolger on a three-year deal.

Bolger, 24, who spent time on loan at Bury towards the end of the season, has been released by fellow League One side Southend United.

The former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international came through the youth system at Leicester City.

"It's a long deal and is a statement of intent from the club," he said.

"The intent from the chairman and the manager and where they want to get the club is obvious. There's a great infrastructure here with the new training facility."

The Cod Army have already signed centre-back Ashley Eastham and striker Ashley Nadesan for next season.
