Mansfield manager Adam Murray has installed former Carlisle striker Karl Hawley as first-team coach.

Hawley, 34, made 98 appearances during a three-year spell with Notts County, scoring nine goals and helping them win the League Two title in 2012.

His playing career also included spells at Preston, Scunthorpe, Torquay, Carlisle - where he won two promotions - and Alfreton.

"Karl is someone I have known for many years," Murray told the Stags' website. , external

"He brings to the club a wealth of experience in the League, which we feel will be vitally important to move forward.

"Karl has a great background in achieving success and promotions and we feel that he will add a winning mentality to that which we already have in this group."
