Nicky Maynard has 99 career goals for six different clubs

MK Dons striker Nicky Maynard has signed a new one-year contract with the League One side.

The 29-year-old scored seven goals last season after he arrived in September but could not prevent their relegation.

Maynard started his career at Crewe and has also had spells at Bristol City, West Ham, Cardiff City and Wigan.

"I wanted to be somewhere where I felt wanted," he said, external. "Having spoken to the gaffer quite a bit over the summer, he let me know how much he wanted me."

Manager Karl Robinson added: "I'm confident in his ability to come back in and score the amount of goals we all want him to score in League One.

"Knowing the teams we've beat, to get Nicky to sign for us, makes me proud of the club and all the hard work that has gone on to make this achievable."
