Derek Adams: Plymouth Argyle manager says team needs time to gel

Plymouth manager Derek Adams says his side still have a lot of gelling together to do, despite Argyle getting their first win of the season.

Tuesday's 2-1 win at Notts County saw the first goals scored since extensive recruitment at Home Park in the summer.

"When you take in 14 new players to a football club it's always going to take time," Adams told BBC Radio Devon.

"We've still got to know each other, the players have only been around each other for six weeks."

The Scot continued: "The best managers in the world have found that difficult and there's no people that are magicians out there that can blend a team that quickly."

The Pilgrims ended a scoreless run that dated back to the League Two play-off semi-final second leg win over Portsmouth in May, when Peter Hartley netted an injury-time winner.

"I don't think we were much improved attack-wise," said Adams. "I thought against Luton we were better than that, on Tuesday we probably created more chances.

"I thought our passing was a lot crisper, our runs forward from midfield caused trouble, and when you come away from home you've got to defend well in the later stages of the game and we did that."
