Huddersfield right-back Tommy Smith has signed a contract extension to stay with the Championship club until 2019.

Smith has made 113 appearances for the Terriers since joining in August 2012 following his release by Premier League side Manchester City.

The 24-year-old had two years remaining on his previous deal.

"He has worked very hard to improve his game since I arrived in November and he still has room for development," head coach David Wagner said.

"That is exciting for everyone, as I already believe he is a top right-back for this division."
