Siem de Jong: Newcastle United striker joins PSV Eindhoven on loan

Siem de Jong made just two substitute appearance for Newcastle United under boss Rafael Benitez

Newcastle United midfielder Siem de Jong has joined Dutch top-flight side PSV on a season-long loan.

The Netherlands international led Ajax to the Eredivisie title before joining United on a six-year deal in July 2014.

He returns to his homeland after two injury-plagued years in England, having started only four of his 22 league appearances so far.

De Jong, 27, has not featured for Rafael Benitez's side since their relegation to the Championship.
